Aluminum Shutters
Aluminum window systems are composed of aluminum frames (the framed form of aluminum profiles), glass, window handles, railing hinges, and accessories such as gaskets. These systems stand out for their insulation properties, their ability to support heavy glass panes, and their ease of cleaning.
On the downside, their unit weight is slightly higher than that of PVC window systems due to the weight of aluminum profiles, and their unit cost is also somewhat higher than plastic profiles. As a result, they are often preferred for large windows and commercial building applications. Additionally, because aluminum is a metal with high conductivity, insulation for aluminum windows is usually achieved by incorporating extra thermal insulation plastics within the aluminum frame.
We can roughly divide aluminum shutter materials into three categories: (1) aluminum frames (profiles) that form the main support and frame of the shutter system, (2) the central sections—aluminum box profiles or slats—that control light and visibility, and (3) any additional parts like locks, mesh wires, or covers in systems with lids.
Manufacturing aluminum shutter systems is a relatively straightforward process. Aluminum profiles for the outer frame (joinery) are sourced pre-painted in the desired color. These are then cut to the required dimensions, adjusted for the necessary angles and gaps, and assembled into the frame. Next, the box profile or slats are integrated into the inner section. If the system involves cord-operated slats, sliding rails, hinged opening and closing mechanisms, or automated shutters, the additional mechanisms are prepared prior to assembly.
