Steel and Chrome Railing Systems
Steel and chrome railing systems are characterized by handrails made from steel or chrome materials, with optional glass or non-glass designs. These systems are commonly used on balconies, window fronts, staircases, terraces, rooftops, and poolside areas. They are often chosen for their rust-resistant properties and greater ease of shaping compared to iron counterparts.
While steel and chrome railings are generally more expensive than aluminum or iron, they offer exceptional strength, durability, and low maintenance requirements. In steel railing systems, the handrail weight may reach approximately 5 kg per meter, whereas chrome railing systems tend to remain within 1.5–2 kg per meter.
When properly installed by skilled professionals, steel and chrome railing systems are completely reliable and easy to maintain. Handrails can be cleaned using a soft-bristled brush, soft cloth, or sponge with vinegar or simple cleaning solutions, ensuring a long-lasting and polished appearance.
Steel and chrome railing systems come in a wide variety of models. While we can make basic classifications such as square and rectangular handrail applications, vertical post profiles, horizontal post profiles, glass applications, and oval handrail applications, each category can have countless different design variations. Furthermore, the profiles used in railing systems offer a wide range of color options (RAL). Commonly used finishes include metallic gray (anodized) and, more recently, anthracite, which provides a modern aesthetic.
The materials for chrome and steel railing systems can be divided into three main categories. (1) Basic metal components, such as the base U-profile and handrail profile, which stabilize the railing if it is a ground-fixed system, (2) the middle section comprising glass or post profiles, and (3) connection elements and accessories, including anchor rods, spider connectors, screws, and adhesives. Additional parts are available depending on the application’s configuration. For example, if the railing is secured with posts instead of a full base profile, foot posts are used. If the glass system isn’t fixed to the ground, side connectors may be necessary.
